Quality Assurance Objectives and Resources

This presentation discusses all of the facets of quality assurance in the molecular laboratory. This includes CLIA ’88 regulations, specimen handling, collection, holding and storage, test validation, QA of reagents, probes, ASR, controls, reporting, procedures, and the quality monitoring of various types of instruments which are used in a molecular lab.  Decontamination, sterilization, contamination of nucleic acid, quality control and proficiency testing are also discussed.  (44 slides)

 

Objectives: 

  • Students will be able to discuss the regulations involved in the quality control, quality assurance, and quality monitoring of the various aspects of a molecular laboratory including specimen issues, quality monitoring of chemicals and instruments, and other contamination and proficiency testing issues encountered in this type of laboratory.
