For instance, a patient undergoes a bronchoscopy and gets a bronchial washing, brushing and BAL. Should this case be accessioned as one case or multiple cases? Should you add -59 modifiers to the charges? I have been told that Medicare is honing in on these cases for overbilling. Any assistance would be appreciated. -M. Roberts, Cytopathologist,Virginia
