Case Studies

Case Studies provide an interactive distance-learning experience to interesting cases in the field of cytopathology.  Each Case has objectives, multiple images and a clinical history, along with a multiple-choice diagnosis followed by discussion, review images and references. 

Current ASC Members may access all Cases for free for educational purposes.  Current ASC Members may also view these Cases for CME, CMLE and to fulfill the Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs) for the American Board of Pathology Maintenance of Certification (MOC).*  Each completed Case may be claimed for 1 credit hour when viewed online.  The fee for each credit hour is: $25.   

*Fine Needle Aspiration; Left Supraorbital Mass (The ASC Bulletin Self Assessment Case Study #1) is provided for educational purposes only and does not offer CME/CMLE/SAM credit.

Continuing Education

The American Society of Cytopathology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society of Cytopathology designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The ASC designates these activities for the indicated number of Continuing Medical Laboratory Education (CMLE) credit hours. The CMLE credit hours meet the continuing education requirements for the ASCP Board of Registry Certification Maintenance Program.

American Board of Pathology Maintenance of Certification

This product can help fulfill the CME requirements and Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs) mandated by the American Board of Pathology Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process.

This program is approved for continuing education credits in the State of Florida (only worth .5 credit) and the State of California.
