Membership Benefits

ASC membership benefits are numerous and cover a broad spectrum of professional and personal needs. As a member of the ASC, you have the opportunity to provide and utilize resources necessary to foster professional, academic and scientific growth in the field of cytology.

Education
State of the Art Scientific Meetings are held annually and include microscopic workshops, poster and platform presentations, and scientific seminars relating to current concepts and research findings in the field of cytology.

Teleconference series are available and bring lectures from experts in the field to your institution.

Publications
Receive The ASC Bulletin, an official publication of the Society. The Bulletin keeps members abreast of ASC activities, current topics in clinical cytology and laboratory practice, forthcoming events, editorials, interesting cases, etc.

Members are also entitled to reduced subscription rates to the following Journals:

     • Cancer Cytopathology*
     • ACTA Cytologica
     • Diagnostic Cytopathology
     • Cytopathology
    

* Free for Medical Members, Fellow Members and Voting Cytotechnologist Members.

Professional
The ASC monitors the quality of the cytotechnology programs, recommends accreditation status and performs on-site inspections.

The ASC monitors national recruitment issues and keeps abreast of legislative issues relating to the field of cytology. The ASC communicates with state and regional organizations concerning the needs of each society.

The ASC provides liaisons to the AMA House of Delegates, College of American Pathologists, Intersociety Pathology Council, American Registry of Pathology, and the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry.

Personal
The ASC is a unique society that provides a forum where pathologists and cytotechnologists can interact and network with each other on personal and professional levels.

Listserv
The ASC listserv provides an opportunity for networking with peers, colleagues and leadership in cytopathology. Many discussions of preparation technique, reporting requirements, reimbursement and other current issues have taken place among members of the list. This list is restricted to members of the Society and not to the public at large.
