Awards Committee

Charges:

1. Evaluate nominations for the Papanicolaou Award, the Cytotechnologist Award for Outstanding Achievement, and Excellence in Education Award and present at least two candidates for each award to the Executive Board for the Spring Meeting.
2. Maintain a list of nominees of the previous four (4) years to be considered for the above awards each year.
3. Review the criteria for evaluating abstract presentations.
4. Develop a procedure to review and select  the abstract awards recipients prior to the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting
5. Procedure for reviewing abstracts and selecting award recipients should clearly address conflict of interest and committee’s policy for recusal.
6. Evaluate the abstracts at the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting that are eligible for the Warren R. Lang, M.D. Resident Physician Award, and Cytotechnologist Scientific Presentation Award.
7. Evaluate abstracts at the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting that are eligible for Impact of Workload on Diagnostic Accuracy-Research Award, select an awardee only when a paper is meritorious. 
8. Notify the President and Executive Director of the awardees prior to the Diagnostic Slide Seminar session of the Annual Scientific Meeting.
9. Review applications and make recommendations to the CAP Foundation for the Zeiler Award
10. Review applications and make recommendations to the ASC Foundation for the Cytotechnologist Scholarship Awards
11. Continue to follow up on the Zeiler and Foundation scholarship awardees
