Safety Objectives and Resources

This presentation discusses various aspects of safety for laboratory workers. (29 slides)

Objectives:

• Define OSHA and discuss its requirements and its role in the laboratory
• Discuss the proper handling, labeling and storage of specimens, chemicals, reagents, glassware and laboratory equipment
• Identify various warning labels and NFPA codes
• Define MSDS and their required information
• Describe the procedure for cleaning a chemical spill, for operating a fire extinguisher and fire evacuation
• Differentiate between the various types of fire extinguishers
