The American Society of Cytopathology recognizes your need to keep up-to-date and be informed about new and emerging medical knowledge.  This includes new practice guidelines, timely practical topics of interest, as well as new clinically relevant techniques in clinical practice and research. These will be addressed by utilizing periodically scheduled “Hot Topic” webinars.

A Hot Topic webinar will be presented by a knowledgeable and experienced speaker, ranging from 30 minutes to one hour.  The value of CME/CMLE/SAM credits depends on the duration.  (Ex. 30 minutes is .5 credit and one hour is 1 credit).  Credits are available for three years from the live presentation date. 

The live presentation will be recorded, archived, and made available to purchase and view later, individually, as a group, on-the-go or as an addition to your institutions library.

2012 Updated ASCCP Consensus Management Guidelines for Women with Abnormal Cervical Cancer Screening Tests

Educational Objectives:  

• Understand the updated management guidelines for different screening tests
• Know the differences in recommendations for general vs. special populations
• Apply the new algorithms to their daily practice 
   

A standard approach to managing women with abnormal cervical cytology and cervical cancer precursors was initially developed by ASCCP in 2001 and updated in 2006. Since then, our understanding of cervical disease has advanced and screening has changed. Clinicians would benefit from guidance on how to incorporate co-testing into managing their patients.

In addition, new data from Kaiser Permanente Northern California provided new evidence to fill the gaps in the 2006 guidelines. The 2012 consensus guideline aimed to update patient management based on this new information.

The American Society of Cytopathology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society of Cytopathology designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

American Board of Pathology Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

This product can help fulfill the CME requirements and Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs) mandated by the American Board of Pathology Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process.

Continuing Medical Laboratory Education (CMLE)
