The ASC fully supports the use of HPV vaccines. We encourage all  women -- even if vaccinated -- to continue regular Pap tests screening for cervical cancer.

The types of HPV that the vaccine works against are responsible for only 70% of the cases of  cervical cancer, and no one knows how long the immunity provided by the vaccine will last.

Regularly scheduled Pap tests are vitally important in the detection of cervical cancer and routine testing should continue based upon established screening intervals.
