This Web site has been developed with input from many cytopathologists and cytotechnologists so that the new entry-level competencies (ELCs) for cytotechnology education that were recently approved by the Commissioner on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) can be more easily implemented by the Cytotechnology Programs. This site is intended to be a “one-stop” secure mechanism for locating files and other resources to teach these new ELCs.
We have many people to thank for this great resource – the CELL Resource Committee members who found, vetted, and even wrote some of these, the Cytotechnology Programs Review Committee (CPRC) for the leadership in developing these new competencies, the ASC staff and Executive Board for their leadership and support, and the ASCT, the ASCP, and the CAP for their many contributions towards this important resource.
Explore it, download resources, decide where to add these into your curriculum, and, if you know of or are using resources that would help to fulfill these ELCs, just hit the “Contribute” button and they will be evaluated by the committee for inclusion. This is just the first step in developing a dynamic, growing teaching resource, which will grow and expand as our profession needs to meet the challenges of the future.
We welcome your feedback and are excited to hear how you will be incorporating these materials into your curriculum.
