Quality Improvement in Cytopathology
Stephen Raab, MD
Professor of Pathology University of Mississippi Medical Center Jackson, Mississippi
So you want to improve your cytopathology laboratory quality? This webinar examines how cytopathology laboratories implement quality improvement activities by providing theoretical and practical examples. Laboratory patient care quality improvement takes place through three main methods: 1) model-based change (e.g., process adoption from what works in other labs), 2) process-based change (e.g., Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle of incremental improvement), and 3) worker-focused-based change (e.g., transformational change based on worker empowerment). Strengths, weaknesses, outcomes, barriers, and training for these different methods of change will be discussed.
