Cytopathology of Neuroendocrine Neoplasms of Pancreas & Gl Tract; Current Concepts & Controversies
Michelle D. Reid, MD, MS
Neuroendocrine neoplasms of the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract are diverse tumors with variable cytomorphology and grades. While the cytologic diagnosis of classical examples is straightforward, exceptions exist that create challenges in diagnosis and distinction from key differentials. This webinar will explore the cytomorphologic repertoire of well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors and poorly-differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma with emphasis on morphologic pitfalls, grading methodologies and distinguishing features from frequent mimics. Additionally, pitfalls and limitations of cytology and ancillary testing in diagnosis and grading will be explored as well as tumor nomenclature at metastatic sites, wording of reports and handling of grade-discordant and ambiguous cases.
